TUESDAY JULY 1ST- Everyone check your departure times from your city. Be at the airport at least two hours early. Be sure to have your passports and airline tickets! We are on our way!
WEDNESDAY JULY 2ND -Arriving in Entebbe airport in Uganda. We will spend the night in the Gulf View Hotel near the airport.
THURSDAY JULY 3RD-Breakfast and family time in hotel before moving on. Those who will be going to Tororo will leave by van @ 9am. Those going to Fort Portal will leave by bus at the same time. Fort Portal is a beautiful place about 4 hours west of Kampala. It is near the Renzawori mountains where the evenings are cool. This is where we are partnering with Outreach for Africa and Sunrise house. We will visit some of our fifty orphans at the Sunrise house. We will also spend some time in the OTA medical clinic and visit their school. You will love our beautiful hotel Moon over the Mountains! Sleep well!
FRIDAY JULY 4TH -Breakfast in hotel. Happy Independence day! Family time before leaving the hotel. Those going to the Queen Victoria Game Park for a safari will leave early. It is about 80 Kilometers away. The rest of the team will visit orphans and spend time in the clinic and do work projects. Everyone will be back at the Moon hotel again tonight!
SATURDAY, JULY 5TH-Today will be a long drive to Tororo so we will be up early to make the trip to Eastern Uganda. The excitement will build as we near our home for the next days! We will arrive in the Rock Classic Hotel and see the heart of our ministry! If there is time we will take a ten minute trip to the main site to give you an overview of the hospital, orphan program, boarding school, cottages, guest house, and all of the other programs on our 35 acre main site!
SUNDAY JULY 6TH- Breakfast in hotel. Family time before leaving for the site or the village of Mumatumba. This will be our introduction to worship in a typical African church! Hang on! You have never experienced anything like this. The orphan choir will sing and dance, kids choirs will perform! It will be a joy to be a part of this morning! After lunch back at the hotel, we will visit the Tororo hospital so you can see the conditions of an average hospital. The evening is free to enjoy the team and acclimate to being in Africa!
MONDAY JULY 7TH-FRIDAY JULY 1TH-Breakfast in Hotel. Family time before leaving for the site and local villages. These days there are many choices you can make so that you experience a wide variety of things during the week. Options before you are as follows, working in the medical/dental clinic, medical outreach to the Ugandan Cement Industry, optical clinic, and working with the building and painting projects. Leadership seminars will take place each day. There will be many opportunities to do kids ministry with the hundreds of kids we will see over the next days. Some will organize crafts and games and sports camps. We will run a daily after school soccer camp for kids. We will have opportunities to go out to the villages which we have sponsored to take part in painting and medical outreaches. There will be chances to visit with our orphans throughout the week. You can volunteer for any of these opportunities. Teams will eat lunch and dinner at the hotel unless you are in the rural areas and we will pack a lunch for you. Several evenings we will have community outreaches in open-air events, which a number of us will participate.
SATURDAY JULY 12TH-How about climbing a mountain? Those who are interested will meet our hosts at 7am at hotel lobby for a climb up the rock! Team meeting at 10 am with entire team. Leave for site and to visit kids and families. Finish up projects. This will be a busy day trying to finish up our projects!
SUNDAY, JULY 13TH-Breakfast in Hotel. Family time. This is our last Sunday in Africa. We will catch a worship service on our way out of town. We will make a stop at the Nile River for some shopping and if time permits we will have dinner at Fang Fang a very special Chinese Restaurant in Kampala. Then we will make our way to The Entebbe Airport where we are take our evening flight out to Amsterdam.
MONDAY, JULY 14TH. Arriving Amsterdam. Connecting to our various flights. Arriving USA on same day! I hope you all have had a great life changing experience! Thanks for being a part of this adventure!
