Since its recognition as a distinctive region in the late 19th century, Appalachia has been a source of enduring myths and distortions regarding the isolation, temperament, and behavior of its inhabitants. While endowed with abundant natural resources, Appalachia has long been associated with and struggled with poverty.

Projects

Our plans for our upcoming mission trips to Appalachia (Kentucky and Virginia) include:

• Helping those in need with painting, mowing, and cleaning projects

• Holding a spa day for women

• Dressing girls with pillowcase dresses through Dress-A-Girl-Around the World

• Distributing clothing for boys and girls

• Filling kids’ backpacks with food so they can have something to eat at home

• Helping lead Bible school for kids

• Gardening

• Teaching kids about hygiene, giving them hygiene packs
