Bob Mooney

Senior Pastor - Messiah Lutheran Church for 23 years

H4KI involvement - almost 25 years – Tom has been speaking at Messiah Lutheran for almost 20 years

First Mission – Uganda/November of 2004.  After Tom's first visit to Uganda he spoke at Messiah and told of the need to build a medical clinic in UCI with a cost of about 40K. He said he had the first 20K. I invited the congregation to give to make a difference and that day they gave about 22K to build the clinic.  That was in about January of 2004, I went to see the clinic in November.  Life has never been the same.  Out of that we have sponsored 5 orphans, (currently 3).  Our church also was the major donor with a 100K gift from an 18 year old girl who gave her trust fund money to build the new hospital, we have had about 30 of our church members go to Uganda and some have gone to Chile, Russia, and Peru.

We have an ongoing relationship and commitment to the first orphan I met when I was in Uganda, a young girl named Josephine.  We have committed to make sure that she will be able to go all the way through the university

Messiah Lutheran has also been instrumental in the development of the school and currently fund a cottage for the students to live in.  Our Sunday School raised the money to build a Sunday School building and we have arranged for over 1 million dollars worth of medicine to be sent to Uganda.  Messiah Lutheran has also paid for three medical clinics to be built in Peru.

We have also connected Hope4Kids with other churches that have become significant donors and participants on mission trips.

I have led three mission trips to Uganda for Tom and will be leading another one this summer.

I have been on the board for about 3 years.
