Tina Maurry took her first trip to Uganda several years ago and like many others has not been the same since that experience.
Both times after Tina returned home from Africa, she was compelled to do something more to help the plight of the people she had grown to love. She called on all of her dear friends and contacts and organized The Annual Music Festival Benefiting The Orphans and Widow’s of Uganda benefiting our True Vine Hospital in Tororo, Uganda.
This year was bigger & better than ever! Located at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse in Hermosa Beach, California, the Music Festival hosted rock band-Building a Better Space Ship, Manhattan Beach Middle School Choir and First Lutheran Church of Carson Gospel Choir brought the house down! In between choirs, Kelly Kiki spoke about education in Uganda and Angie Simon spoke about healthcare and the True Vine hospital. Also in the program, a silent auction and a live auction were held by a comedian auctioneer. Thousands of dollars of items were donated and close to a hundred volunteers made this night what Tina called “magical” all come together. Over the last two years, Tina and her friends raised close to $85,000 for the hospital in Uganda! The outpour of love the community of Hermosa and Manhattan Beach showed was amazing.
Thank you Tina and everyone who volunteered their time, effort and money. We appreciate your passion, tireless volunteer hours and your tremendous dedication!
