In 1998, Tom brought a team to Romania including a container to set up a medical/dental clinic. The team met  a woman named  Maria and she was a Gypsy.
The team invited her in and told her about Jesus . The next day they invited her to work with them in the clinic until George, the director of the church, told that she must leave because she was a Gypsy and a prostitute and Jesus would not want her there. The team pleaded with George  and challenged him to love her as Jesus would. During the team trip in August, Tom was in a city of million people.
A man tapped him on his shoulder and it was George whom he had not seen in five years. George briefed him on the busy clinic and then shared that now his main ministry was for the gypsies. His heart had been changed and out of that love he had to help them. Even today, there is great prejudice in Romania towards the gypsies and even the Christians have been slow to respond to the great need in the rundown villages with no water, electricity, and poor education. Now, a seed had been sown years ago and is now producing fruit!  H4KI has worked in the villages of Lazreni and Cheresig to improve the living conditions, has sponsored children and their education and has built a school for the kids. George invited future partnership in his village!  What an encounter!
