We often say that 100% of your donation goes directly to the project your designate. How often do you hear of an organization proclaim that they can multiply your financial gift of $1000 and turn it into $426,000?
That was the case this spring when Hope 4 Kids International partnered with another organization called Giving Children Hope.

It’s not surprising that Hope 4 Kids established a relationship with another organization that has a name like Giving Children Hope. Last February, H4KI Board member and Messiah Lutheran Pastor, Bob Mooney, suggested that we hook up with fellow Messiah member, Rob Burns who works for the organization. GCH is another faith-based organization dedicated to alleviating poverty through health and community development along with other organizations in hopes that through our united efforts we can make a deeper impact to communities in need.

Hope 4 Kids was blessed to be one of the first recipients in receiving aid from GCH’s new program of delivering prescription medication for pennies on the dollar. Only fifty-five packages were available to organizations around the world and Hope 4 Kids was able to obtain two of them for our True Vine hospital in Tororo, Uganda. One $1,000 package of medicine represented around $426K worth of prescription malaria, de-worming, antibiotics and oral rehydration medicine that would serve up to 12,000. Bob Mooney also raised the financial support for this medicine.

Giving Children Hope works with European pharmaceutical companies that ships medicine directly to foreign countries without having to incur red tape from our American government because the medicine never hits American soil. The prescription medicine has a shelf life between 12-18 months.

After we submitted our extensive application to GCH, the real work began getting the medicine into Uganda especially without having to pay import fees and taxes. Pastor Wilber, Director of True Vine was instrumental in getting our medicine approved and into the country without having to pay any tariffs. Government officials initially tried to tax Pastor Wilber $25K for our medicine and he was able to get it down to a couple hundred dollars. Pastor Wilber also had to make many trips into Kampala with commercial invoices and packing lists to the Minister of Health’s office to get our medicine officially approved before it arrived at Entebbe airport. Even in the final days leading up to the medicine arrival, God has His hand on getting our medicine into our hospital safely. Days before his much anticipated trip to Israel, Pastor Wilber had problems obtaining his Israeli visa and was unable to go. He felt this delay was crucial in helping him obtain the final authorization for the paperwork of our medicine.  Pastor Wilber and Pastor Hillary were finally able to return and stock our hospital with nearly $900K worth of much needed medicine.

Hope 4 Kids is now in the process of getting a similar package of prescription of medicine for the barrios of Trujillo, Peru.
