Who leads the teams?
Tom Eggum, the founding president of
Hope 4 Kids International leads all of our international teams. He has
been leading teams for over 37 years. We also have at least one person from our staff help lead the teams, too.
Where do we stay?
Our team stays in the best hotels we are able to find and negotiate a
humanitarian rate. This allows our team members to be able to have a
comfortable place to sleep and be well rested for the days of our
mission. Usually, two people stay to a room unless you want to pay a
single supplement fee of $400.
What do we eat?
We try to find the best food available in the hotel or in a restaurant. Teams enjoy trying local cuisine with the comfort of knowing that it is safe to eat.
Are the places we travel to safe?
Safety is our #1 concern. In
all of our years of taking teams internationally, we have never had an
incident that endangered anyone. If we have heard of trouble in an area
we will not visit that area. We take every precaution to protect our
team from any unnecessary risk.
Who can go on a mission?
We
invite teenagers through seniors to travel with us. People come from
all backgrounds and experience. We have people with medical, dental,
construction, agriculture, teaching, ministry, social work, students,
business, and most every walk of life. If you care about reaching out to the poor in need
- you qualify.
What would I do each day?
We try to
give people various serving opportunities throughout our mission trips. Some days you could assist
in a clinic. You may want to spend time playing with the kids or delivering goats or mosquito nets out to orphans in the bush. Teams will also get to experience well dedications and walk down to the previous water sources. You could help with painting or
construction projects or help in our agricultural projects. We visit kids in hospitals, orphanages, and schools. We have the opportunity to
teach classes or lead Vacation Bible School style events. We usually
have opportunities to use music, drama, and puppets to communicate the
message of Christ’s love to the kids we meet. Each day will be very
full of activities and opportunities for you to use your gifts.
Where do the team members come from?
Most of our team members come from all over North America, however, anybody living outside the US is welcome to join us. International Team members will join us in our destination city. Very few people know each other at the onset of the trip.
Are you promoting the Gospel of Christ?
Depending
on the freedom given in our host nation we take whatever opportunity we
have through speaking, drama, music, and puppets to proclaim the love
of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, we always have the opportunity to
demonstrate the example of Jesus Christ through our actions by serving
the people we meet.
