MONDAY, JULY 17th:
Everyone check your departure times from your city. Be at the airport at least two hours early. Be sure to have your passports and airline tickets. We are on our way! Our team will meet in Houston, and we have people joining our team from all around the United States. We all leave from Houston on flight 590 @ 4:05 pm to Lima. We will meet at the departing gate. Tom will hand out your name tags and brief us all on anything that we need to know. From there…it’s welcome to Peru! We will clear customs and be transported by buses to our hotel, Mariel Hotel (sleep zzzzz).
TUESDAY JULY, 18th:
Breakfast in hotel from 7am to 8am. Family time and introduction and guidelines 9am. Our bus will pick us up at 11am to tour Lima and go to lunch. The bus will take us to the Lima airport at 6pm for our flight to Trujillo at 8:05 pm. We arrive in Trujillo at 9:10 pm. We check into our hotels, and this will be our home until July 25th. Sleep…
WEDNESDAY, JULY 19th:
Breakfast in hotel from 7 am to 8 am. Family time is 8 am till 9 am. The team members that are staying at the other hotel will be bused over for family time. After family time the buses will pick us up and we will go to some of the barrios that we will be working in. This is a great way to meet the people that we will be working with and also to see where these barrios are. Bring your camera on this day. We will have dinner and an orientation meeting by our Peru host at 6:30pm
THURSDAY JULY 20th thru SUNDAY, JULY 23rd:
Breakfast in hotel from 7 am to 8 am. Family time before leaving the hotel. The bus will take each group to their work place for these days. There will be 2 groups for VBS and two groups for construction. Each group will arrive in their designated barrios to work from 9:30 – 5:00 pm, and the groups will have lunch in the barrios. The people that live in that barrio will be helping with all the construction work and the VBS programs. The bus will pick us up at 5pm and take us to our hotels. Dinner is at 6:30 pm. Hang out at the hotel and sleep.
MONDAY, JULY 24th:
Breakfast in hotel. Family time before leaving for the barrio. Today we will be doing the finish up work for the construction and just playing with the kids. The VBS program is finished. We will have the same schedule as we did on the other 4 days.
TUESDAY, JULY 25th:
Breakfast in Hotel. Family time before leaving for the barrio. We will be picked up at 9 am to go to the barrio for the last time. This day will be cut short at 3 pm. The bus will pick us up and take us to the hotel to get cleaned up. Dinner will be at 5:30 pm. We will leave for the airport at 7:30 pm. Our flight leaves at 9:40 pm and gets into Lima at 10:40 pm. We will get picked up and taken to our Lima Hotel. Sleep.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 26th:
Breakfast in the Hotel. Family time. We will fly out of Lima at 1:05 pm and get into Cuzco at 2:20 pm. A Private motorcoach transfer from Cuzco airport to Royal Inka I hotel. Shopping and exploring the city at your leisure. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
THURSDAY, JULY 27th:
Breakfast in Hotel. Family time. Early morning transfer from hotel to train station. “Backpacker” train to Aguas Calientes and shuttle to Machu Picchu ruins. Private guided tour of the ruins. We will have lunch there. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes and train will take us back to Cuzco. Dinner at hotel we will overnight here again.
FRIDAY, JULY 28th:
Breakfast in Hotel. Final Family time and debriefing. We will be bused to the airport to fly back to Lima. We all leave out of Lima to Houston at 11:55 pm. This is where we say our goodbyes to a number of our team members. Have a great flight home!
SATURDAY, JULY 29TH:
Thanks so much for taking this journey with us. We hope to see you on another one of our trips. Welcome home!
