Sunride Update
This summer, Chris Johnson, Michael Alexander and Josh Klein are embarking on a three and a half week bike ride from Tempe, Arizona, to Chicago. Their goal is to raise
$10,000, which will go towards the purchase of a truck for the farm of

May 17 - The Sunride Team begins their 2000 mile journey!
Day 1 - Team rides more than they have planned.
75 miles! Finished the day in Oak Creek, AZ.
Sunriders - 1 AZ elevation - 0
May 18 - Sunride Team rides a quick 45 miles today and stops
in Flagstaff for the day to visit some friends.
May 19- The team has a big day ahead heading north on 89 to
Page, nearly 130 miles away. It looks like camping
for the the team if they don't make it to Page! The
temps are good today, but rain is in the forecast.
May 20- The team made GREAT time today through Cameron
and Tuba City today. They traveled through Cortes all
the way to Bayfield, Colorado, where they spent the
night at an awesome campsite.
May 21- Today will be the hardest day of the whole trip. The
Sunride team has to cycle 70 miles to Wolf Creek and
then climb to an elevation of 11,000! They can see
the snow covered mountains up ahead! The silver
lining is if they can make the climb to Wolf Creek,
they can coast down with little effort and gain 20
miles!
May 22 - The team made it to Wolf Creek pass yesterday. It
was pouring raining and there was snow on the
ground. The Sunride Team decided to stay at the base
of the mountain last night. They coasted 20 miles
down the mountain this morning. They made the
journey today from Bay Point to Wolf Creek pass.
May 23 - Today was a litle frustrating for the Sunride team.
There were strong headwinds all day. They will camp
tonight at San Luis State Park.
May 24- The team made it to Lamar, Colorado!
May 25 - Sunride made their home in Garden City tonight.
May 26- The weather has been horrible for our Sunride team.
This is the furthest east Josh has been. Chris was
talking up the midwest, but now its letting him down!
The team made it to Great Bend, Kansas today.
May 27 - The team finally got some great weather today. The
wind was finally at their backs. They rode from Great
Bend to Emporia today.
May 28- The team made it to Kansas City today!
May 29- Sunride is taking a rest day and enjoying some good
ol' KC barbeque!
May 31- Sunride is just outside of Des Moines, Iowa today.
They decided to go north sooner than later.
June 02- SUNRIDE TEAM FINISHES JUST 15 MILES FROM THE
SOUTHSIDE OF DOWNTOWN CHICAGO! On route 6,
the team enters into Juliette across their heartfelt
1800-mile finish line.
