Education is one of the most powerful investments we can make in our youth and our tomorrow. The internationally agreed upon goals (goal two and three of the millennium Development Goals--MDGs) is to achieve universal primary education and promote gender equality and empower women by 2015. In doing so, 77 million more children, boys and girls, worldwide would have free access to primary education.

In male dominate cultures, an investment in basic education is an investment in women and girls. The proof is in the numbers:
•    Children of mothers who receive five years of primary education are 40% more likely to live beyond age 5.
•    Educated mothers are 50% more likely to have their children immunized.
•    In low-income countries, a young woman’s average earnings increase between 10% and 20% with each additional year of education.
