W4KI Walk 4 Water

Get involved by participating in our walks or start one in your own city.
What better way to raise awareness for the need for clean water than organizing a community walk?

Hope 4 Kids International has already partnered with several cities to host a Walk 4 Water. Walk 4 Water events provide the opportunity to honor the women and children who are forced to walk several kilometers to fetch dirty water for their families. If this is your passion, e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information. We will provide you with detailed instructions on organizing a successful walk.
  • Set up a planning committee. A planning committee will allow your event to operate more smoothly. It's always nice to have the help of a few friends.
  • Find a public location. Choose a river jetty, park, or a long stretch of scenic road.
  • Set a date. Give yourself no less than 3 months to plan and organize the details.
  • Set up your web page for sign-ups and payment. If you are involved at a church or synagogue, ask if you can set up a table with information and an opportunity for sign-ups.
  • Reach out to local businesses and schools. Attach a photo of Africans drawing water from dirty a reservoir on mini wide-mouthed water bottles and hand them out for people to display in their classrooms, businesses, and offices. People can fill the bottles with loose change; it really adds up and is a great way to market your event.
  • Download your customizable forms and Walk 4 Water logos. There are several forms you can download for your event. Customized forms and logos are also available upon request. We will provide labels and a photograph with the headline, “Safe Water for Africa”, which you can adhere to a plastic bottle for collecting coins.
  • E-mail group announcements of the plans. Staying in touch is important. Send regular emails for updates and encouragement. When the event is complete, give updates (how much money was made and whatever else you would like to add). Send handwritten thank you notes or e-mail the people who participated in your event.
  • Set up tables and umbrellas to create a station for registration, water, and snacks. This is a great place to give out Walk 4 Water t-shirts to everyone who registers.
  • Everyone loves a Walk 4 Water t-shirt. Your registration can include a t-shirt for all registered participants. Oftentimes, people will want to buy extras for their friends and family. Give your walkers a cut-off date to order shirts so you will know how many to purchase. Shirts are also a great advertisement for future walks.
  • Make your checks payable to Water 4 Kids International. All checks should be sent to our office in Phoenix for processing. Please write the village you are sponsoring on the memo line so we can post it to your account. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ahead of time so she can connect you with a village before your walk. Be sure your walker's address is on the individual check so H4KI/W4KI can provide a receipt, which can be used for a tax write-off.
